Book:The Tango Wars

The Tango War by Mary Jo McConahay.  If you are history buff or someone who has an interest in World War II this book is one you want to read.  If you are interested in Latin America history this book is also for you.  The Tango War is about Latin America and World War II.  Probably the history that was never taught in your history class. The importance of Latin America and the role it played in World War II.

I myself never thought that Latin America had a huge importance in World War II except for the Panama Canal. Even before World War II and right after World War I many countries sought to strategically place their present in Latin America for its resources and the opportunities it presented.  Resources need for their the military and for the war. The United States and the Allies were aware of this. Aware that the United State used everything in their power to win the heart and minds of the Latin American people.

If there one thing that caught my eye from reading this book was the treatment of Jews and ethic Japanese. The treatment they were received from Latin America and being turn away.  Latin America Governments and people mistreating and sending people back to Germany.  Turning in Japanese people at the request of the United States government and then being sent to camps in the United States. Then those responsible for the death of so many people in Nazi concentration camps, able to escape to Latin America.
