Another journal full. This is my Covid-19 pandemic journal that I started last year in March. Have a lot of written entries and few art work here and there. I would say this journal kept me mentally in check and from going crazy. Not being able to interact with people and being stuck at home the majority of the time. It will be interest to look back at this journal in a year or two from now and read what I wrote down.
The one thing I wish I could have done with my journal is add newspaper clippings. I remember asking a family member if they could buy me the newspaper because of the launch of space X in May 2020. I wanted it just to haven cause it now part of history. Every store they went to didn’t sale the newspaper. That the sad part about everything being online and something the younger generation are missing. Clipping newspaper articles of important events. I old newspapers of 9/11, the begin of the gulf war in the 90s.
Did you keep a journal during the covid19?
The journey isn’t over yet, even as we soon to welcome in a new year, but hopefully 2021 isn’t as depressing and rough as 2020. As we approach the last few days of 2020, many of us will be reflecting on this journey that we’ve all been experiencing, the pandemic. Its been a tough journey for everyone and it will be one that will never be forgotten. Who would have thought that we would be able to say that we lived threw a pandemic and add it to our life resume experience.
Since the beginning of the year I’ve not only been blogging about this pandemic and my personal experience like many bloggers around the world, but I’ve also been keeping a journal. Writing and sketching. It something that has kept me mentally focus since this whole pandemic started and we entered a world of social distancing and wearing a mask. Looking threw my journal entries, am still unsure how to process and reflect what has happen these past 9 months. Am still unsure how this pandemic has effected me, personally. Has it change me? Have I grown? Is that kind of strange? Maybe two years from now, I know, but am sure re-reading my journal entries and my blog posting will be interesting. From the beginning of the pandemic when I was looking for a job, when the world was hoarding and looking for toilet paper, my birthday, finding a job was possible during a pandemic to the present day.
Where ever you may be reading this post, I hope you are well. Please, seek help if you are struggle during these tough time.
I started keeping a diary/journal about five years ago. Just felt, why not start just writing notes about what going on in my non-interesting life, put those thoughts I have in my head on paper and leave them there. Beside I needed to add something to my routine, writing in a journal seem the perfect fit.
When we began the year 2020 I had brought a new journal/diary to start writing in. I use sketchbooks as my diary notebook cause the paper can take different mediums: watercolor, ink, markers etc. Beside writing, I also like to doodle in my journal. In late January and going into February there was family emergency and I didn’t get a chance to write. My mind was occupied with this family emergency. By the end of February and going into March well coronavirus introduce it-self here in the United States and other parts of the world.
That sketchbook now is my COVID-19 notes. Writing my observations in the new world we are living in. When I don’t have anything to write then I doodle something and use watercolors to add some color. To the left and below are two doodles I did and have posted on this blog. There things that were being reported in the news like the nurses on the front lines taking care of the sick and the social distancing.
Note, 2020 will be one of those years that people will be talking about for years to come. Where were you when the COVID-19 spread around the world? What was your state of mind and what where you doing when you were in shelter-in-place or lock down? It that time to keep a note in a notebook, on pieces of paper. One day the younger generation in your family will be asking you those questions. Why not let them read from your own words at that time? Just a note for thought.
This week, I finally made my last entire in my second journal. For this 2nd journal I decide to try out the Strathmore 5×5 mixed media hard cover. I wanted to have something that not only I can write in, but doodle. Doodle using pen, pencil, color-pencil, or watercolor. That a must for me, because sometime I don’t have anything to write. So might as well doodle something. In that case I usually referred to the DNDchallenge that posted on instagram. The only thing that I had issue with was when I would write on the backside of the pages. Since it a hard cover, it was difficult to keep it open. Also am right handed, so my right hand and arm are doing double duty, writing and trying to keep the journal book open.
Now I will try something different for my 3rd journal book. I’ve been look around at the art stores and seeing what available. Any suggestions? Here a few photos from my journal.
World Watercolor Month is well under away and the first week is complete. For me it be fun, but also challenging. The challenge of coming up with something new to paint each day and to be able to complete it. I am one who usually take my time, but this has really force to do things on the fly. Awhile there no requirement that each watercolor painting you do has be done at a specific time and/or submitted, I would like to do 31 watercolor paintings. I’ve been posting my watercolor painting on the World Watercolor month Facebook page, as well as on my Instagram with the #WorldWatercolorMonth. The best part is interacting with people from around the world, both beginner and experience watercolor users, plus see each other art work. We say that we are connect by internet, but we are much more connected through art. Here are my watercolor painting for the first week.

Wow! we are already half way done with 2016. The days are just breezing right by us. Some what scary since I’ve haven’t made any progress on finding a full-time job. I was working temporary for the past 3 months. Now am back focusing my attention in finding a job. Awhile I do that, am still working on my journal entries and exploring the world of watercolors. For the month of June I did several dndchallenges with watercolors which was fun. Here are a few, all done in my Strathmore mixed media book:
Ice Cream. Rocky Roll
In the Air.
Something Yellow. SunFlower
Something you Love. Salsa dacing
Now that July is here and it worldwatercolor month, I will be challenging myself in doing 31 watercolor paintings. So fair I’ve done 5 and working on catching up on 6 and 7. It been amazing seeing many other people’s art work from around the world. People from all ages, skill level and different walk of life. I will do a separate post of my watercolor painting for world water-color month. If you are participating in this and posting your watercolor paintings on Facebook, you’ve probably already see my first 3.
In the mean time the heat is on here in South Texas and in other parts of the United States. That means doing any outside activities early in the mornings and staying in the air condition the rest of the afternoon. I’ve cut back on how far I do my morning/afternoon walks, just because it to hot. It going to be a long and hot July, but I hope I can catch up on reading my books. I’ve fallen behind and still trying to finish my current book.
Hope everyone enjoying their easter sunday.
Hello February, You got here fast. So I’ve been keeping up with writing in my journal book for two months already. It been fun keeping a journal, but there also challenges that I’ve had to deal with. The fun part is just writing and doodling in it and the challenge part is what should I write today. I’ve been writing about thing I’ve done, such as how I got interested in dancing, writing down some quotes that I’ve seen on instagram and some personal stories. I would like to shift away from writing personal stuff and more on creativity writing, but somewhat lost there. As of now am my journal book is half way filled so will have to start looking into buying another. I might give a try into the moleskin journal books. Here are few images from my journal.
