A little bit of a challenge coloring this one. One of the challenges is being able to work with the colors you have. Next would be the different shades of brown and then the blending of the colors. Still trying to figure out how to color hair to make it look like hair.
Another journal full. This is my Covid-19 pandemic journal that I started last year in March. Have a lot of written entries and few art work here and there. I would say this journal kept me mentally in check and from going crazy. Not being able to interact with people and being stuck at home the majority of the time. It will be interest to look back at this journal in a year or two from now and read what I wrote down.
The one thing I wish I could have done with my journal is add newspaper clippings. I remember asking a family member if they could buy me the newspaper because of the launch of space X in May 2020. I wanted it just to haven cause it now part of history. Every store they went to didn’t sale the newspaper. That the sad part about everything being online and something the younger generation are missing. Clipping newspaper articles of important events. I old newspapers of 9/11, the begin of the gulf war in the 90s.
Another two more drawings colored in with prismacolor pencil. The coloring of the hair need a lot of work. As for the skin tones, well am limited by colors that are available to me, which are the 24 that came in the set.
Inktober 2020 is more than half way done and so far I’ve been able to keep up. I believe this is my fourth year doing inktober. This year, I’ve been able to draw all my drawings without using pencil first and then having to retracing it in ink. Am slowing building my confidence in drawing with ink. Some time I need to think about how to approach a drawing. Weather I should start with this shape or should I draw this line first and then draw a shape. Below are a few of my drawings from Inktober.
It was six years ago I decided to start teaching myself how drawing. I went to Michael’s and brought my first sketchbook along with some other supplies just to experiment for fun. The last time I was serious about art was in high school. Remembering what I learned from high school I used that information as my starting point. Drawing a oval like egg shape and dividing the shape on where the eyes would go, the nose and the month. My drawing weren’t that great, but I could only get better with practice.
Now at the beginning of August 2020, I started my 3rd sketchbook where I just draw portraits. Looking over my drawing I can see that my drawing are closely resembling the actual person in the photo reference I use. Practice, even though this is just my 3rd sketchbook where I focus on drawing portrait, I’ve also practiced drawing them in my journals including add watercolor. I still have much to improve and learn. Learning on your own has it challenges, but it also make it fun.
